Writer
Purva Naresh, based on the book by Amana Fontanella-Khan
An explosive new drama from Purva Naresh, based on the book by journalist Amana Fontanella-Khan, Pink Sari Revolution explores the real-life struggle of the 400,000-member-strong Gulabi Gang and its formidable leader, Sampat Pal. Instantly recognisable in their blazing pink saris and for campaigning for women’s rights both in India and on the international stage, the play follows the gang’s investigation into why a young girl has been thrown into prison in the dead of night. Conceived and developed over two years by Curve Associate Director Suba Das with a team of internationally acclaimed Indian and British Indian artists, the production fused drama, music and movement, supported by British Council UK/IN 2017 and Arts Council England’s Re:Imagine fund.
